Cathryn Mosella Bradshaw-Scruggs' Obituary
Cathryn Mosella Bradshaw-Scruggs, January 1, 1920, to July 13, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Who passed away peacefully at the age of 105 (and a half). Born in 1920 in Vero, Florida, Cathryn lived a life marked by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ralph Richards and Benjamin F. Scruggs, as well as her son, Michael Allen Richards.
She was born to Francis Wilfred Bradshaw and Mary Fatamer Wilkinson in the West Acres community of Vero, Florida. She was the last surviving of the five siblings, including a brother, Jack, and sisters Mary, Della, and Ann.
She attended school through the 9th grade and later attended beauty school. Cathryn’s life was one of service to her family and church. She attended services at 14TH street church of Christ, 39th avenue church of Christ, and Alachua church of Christ and was a faithful member, never missing an opportunity to be with her Christian brothers and sisters. When anyone visited her home, she insisted on feeding them a meal or at least a cup of coffee. Without fail, you could find her in the corner between the sink and stove, preparing food for company and caring for her family. She served her family until late in life, caring for her Aunt Bessie Parker until her death at 106, and then her sister Della until her death at 93.
Cathryn is survived by her daughter Patricia Ann, son-in-law Luther Calvin Honey, daughter-in-law, Barabara Hathcox-Richards, and a large, loving family. Her grandchildren include Deborah Harris, Donna Lydon, Denise Honey, Susan Rivera, Michael Richards, and Cathryn Bradley. Her legacy is further carried on by 20 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and countless friends, all of whom were fortunate to know her nurturing and loving presence.

Family will receive friends Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM-7:0 0PM at Williams-Thomas Westarea Funeral Home 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry, FL. A Graveside service honoring her life will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00AM at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Archer, FL with Ministers Alan Norton, Doug Frazier, and Kent Heaton officiating and Travis Martin, song leader. Friends are invited and welcome to fellowship with the family at Grandma’s house following the graveside service.
