Carol Bishop Rivenbark's Obituary
Carol Bishop Rivenbark, age 76 of Gainesville passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019. She was born September 16, 1942 in Lake City, FL to James Duval and Mildred Ellis Bishop.
She graduated from Florida State University in 1963. She was a nurse at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, where she met her husband. Carol was a nurse for 55 years. She was a member of first Baptist church of Gainesville.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter “Buddy” Rivenbark III; children, Amy Chin (Ian), Walter Rivenbark IV (Camila), David Rivenbark and Chris Rivenbark; six grandchildren, Cole, Colin, Luke, Aidan, Jake and Alyssa with one on the way Weiland due in May.
She was known as the rock of her family, was the proud mother of her 4 kids and a friend to many in her 20+ year career at the Village taking care and serving others as a nurse.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace, NC. For those who wish, donation may be made to Alachua County Humane Society, 4205 NW 6th St, Gainesville, FL 32609.
