Candice Carol David's Obituary
Candy David, a bright spirit and beloved mother, passed away on March 3, 2026, at 78 years old. She lived life fully- dancing, playing guitar, creating art, telling stories, and embracing every moment with passion and heart. Candy was a passionate advocate for equality, the environment, and animal welfare, always living deeply and authentically. She cherished her dogs Lucy and Stella, corresponded through letters, and valued connection over materialism.
Born December 19, 1947, in Pensacola, FL, Candy was the eldest child of Jack Marlin Jones, USN, and Ellen Brent Senay. A "navy brat", she called many places home, including Japan, and studied French at the University of Connecticut, where she met Robert "Bob" David and became the mother of Jennifer and Kristin.
Candy devoted over 25 years to the National City Library in California, inspiring generations of children through programs, storytelling, and her imaginative artworks. After relocating to Florida, Candy continued her creative works and community outreach as a Library Specialist with the Hawthorne Public Library. After nearly twenty years with the Alachua County Library District, Candy continued on as a tireless volunteer. She lived authentically, loved deeply, and carried a spirit that lit up every room.
She is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Scotty Tucker) and Kristin Kistler (Erik), five grandchildren Melanie, James, Jack, Cooper, and Summer, her sister Melanie Jones (Peter Warren), her brothers Charles "Happy" Jones (Gale) and Raleigh (Carol) Jones and nieces and nephew.
A celebration of Candy's life will be held on her birthday, December 19, 2026, at her home in Hawthorne, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local humane society or honor her memory by "fighting the good fight" for justice, equality and compassion.
