Bonnie K. Heggestad's Obituary
Bonnie K. Heggestad passed away after a long illness on September 5, 2018 at her home. She was born on October 15, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Charles and Gertrude (Henderson) Harrison. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Arnie Heggestad and her children, Arne, Kris, and Lauren. She is also survived by her cousins Sarah Ellen Price and Margaret Carole Pfifferling of Nanticoke, PA, and William Raub of Rockville, MD.
Bonnie grew up in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and attended Cedar Crest College. She and Arnie moved to Gainesville in 1972 where they raised their family. She was a teacher, most recently at Glen Springs Elementary. She loved working with children and continued volunteering at Glen Springs after her retirement in 2008. Bonnie loved to travel with her family and enjoyed making scrapbooks of her trips. She enjoyed knitting and quilting and loved spending time at Crescent Beach.
A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville, followed by a reception in the atrium. Donations in her honor may be made to the Education Foundation of Alachua County, 2802 NE 8th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32641.
