Billy Swick Martin, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away suddenly at his beloved Florida farm on Saturday, October 1, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia, daughter and son-in-law, Kelly (Scott) Colwell, grandson and Read Obituary
Bill was my brother-in-law and friend. My husband and I and the rest of the family treasure all the time we had with him.
Some Lowndes high people may not have known that he and Coach Sanchez were married to sisters. We each had one daughter and raised them side by side for 36 years together in Valdosta. We will miss him forever. He was a remarkable man. Judy and Newnan Sanchez
Mr. Billy's YMCA Family, Friends and former Board Members will greatly miss him as he was usually here at the Y most afternoons. He always greeted us with a friendly smile and genuinely wanted to know how we were doing. And, he always nicely let us know when things needed to be fixed. He will be lovingly missed by ALL.
Bill Martin..A Good Man by Nature, A Brother-In-Law by choosing to marry my Sister, A neighbor by the Location of our houses....My "Friend" by Choice and the Grace of God. I already miss our "Little Rascal" conversations, texts and Coffee at 10 with me and Jodie.

I have many found memories of working with Billy at LHS. We shared many laughs and good times together. He once told me the "Elvis" pep rally we did was one of his favorites. I hate that we did not stay closer after his retirement, but I thought of him often and it was good.
My family is praying for yours as you transition during this difficult time. I know that words can not ease your hurt right now, but I hope God brings you our thoughts in a kind and peaceful way. I can't help but smile when I think of Billy and some of the stories he shared. I will miss him even more now than I did before.

Sylvia, Mr. Martin put a horn in my hands at Hahira Jr. High many years ago. You were one of my teachers as well. Billy had a tremendous impact on my life. I learned not only music, but honor and respect and hard work and determination. You and Billy were mentors to many. I will always cherish our band days and our trip to New York and Niagra Falls. We lived right across the street from Billy and his wonderful wife. I can remember seeing Billy pulling into his driveway or taking his trash out and I always stopped to chat...I always felt like I was bothering him...but, he was such a wonderful person with whom to speak. My two young sons use to tease me about not hitting Mr. Martin's truck when I was pulling out of the driveway in the mad rush to get out the door in the morning and then his wonderful wife shared with me a story about Billy pulling out of the driveway! I will personally miss Bill tremendously. I could go on and on....Billy was my friend and I will miss my friend!
