Beverly Ann Hilton's Obituary
Beverley Ann Hilton, 67, passed in her sleep on Monday, October 19th, 2015 while in the presence of her husband, Richard Hilton, and her sister Donna Foster. It was a peaceful passage at Haven Hospice, where Bev's journey had ended, after being diagnosed with cancer in April, 2015.
Bev was born on February 12, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio, the oldest of three children to Betty and David Curran. Bev's mother passed away just ten days before Bev did.
Bev is survived by her husband Richard, her sister Donna Foster, her brother Martin Curran, her daughter Pamela Rodriguez, her son Patrick Flahan and her father-in-law William Hilton. Bev's five grandchildren were the light of Bev's life, and the source of much bragging.
Bev earned an MBA from the University of Miami, and spent most of her life as a writer and public relations specialist. She was an adjunct professor in public relations at Florida International University.
She and Richard and their five cats moved from South Florida to Gainesville, Florida in 2006, where Bev's interests in sewing and quilting flourished. She served as President of the American Sewing Guild Ocala Chapter, belonged to several quilting guilds and helped form the Fiber Art Bee. Many of her quilts won awards at shows and one whimsical quilt is permanently on display at the Fort White Public Library.
Bev helped develop a line of quilting and sewing tools with her husband, who named the brand Crafty Bev.
Shortly after being admitted to hospice Bev told Richard, “I'm going on a new adventure.” Which was how she wanted her passage to be viewed.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Peaceful Paths of Gainesville, 2100 NW 53rd Ave, Suite A Gainesville, FL 32653, in Bev's name.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 24, 2015. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry, 32669, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. with a celebration of life being conducted for Bev and her mother, Betty Curran beginning at 2:00 P.M.
