Betty Jean Hardee Dampier's Obituary
Betty Jean Hardee Dampier was born October 1st, 1933 to James and Dellie Hardee in Brooker, Florida. She passed peacefully on July 16th,2022 with her family by her side.
Betty graduated from Alachua High School in 1951 and met her husband shortly after. For 70 years they enjoyed a wonderful life of adventure. Betty loved to hunt, fish and travel at her husband’s side. She was a people person, never meeting a stranger and making friends for life. She always had a story that would make you laugh, loved pulling jokes and was an avid weather watcher. Most important, Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and the proud owner of two successful businesses, Dampier Septic Tanks and Porta Potti, for 46 years.
Betty is survived by her husband Wilbur Dampier of 70 years, three children, son Freddie (Missy), daughter Beth (Mike) and daughter Brenda, Jill, special nephew, Terry, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, Sisters Melba Green and Elaine Beaty (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, James Fred and Johnny and 2 sisters, Lorelle and Inez.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hague Baptist Church, 6725 NW 126th Ave., Gainesville. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 3612 NW 177th Ave Gainesville. The family will receive friends Friday, July 22, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street.
