Benjamin Adan Casile's Obituary
June 3, 1932- August 28, 2020
Benjamin Adan Casile quietly passed away at home in Gainesville, Florida on August 28,
2020. Benjamin was lovingly surrounded by his wife of 56 years, 3 daughters, son in laws, 5
grandchildren and extended family.
Ben was born in Libmanan, Camarines Sur, Philippines, then moved to Manila where he
attended and graduated from the University of Philippines, College of Law in 1958. He worked
for D.M. Consunji, Incorporated until immigrating to Canada in 1976. After moving to Canada
with his family and becoming Canadian citizens, Ben moved his family to Gainesville, Florida, in
1981, where he would spend the rest of his life. Until he retired in 2000, he worked for the
University of Florida, College of Education where many of the young students became known as his “children”.
Ben was known to be a good, kind, honorable, gentle man who was a devout Catholic. He
dedicated his life to his family and deeply loved his wife, children and grandchildren. His
passions included the University of Florida Gators, bowling, fishing and gardening. Most of all,
time spent with family was his most favorite pastime.
Ben is survived by his wife Erna, children, Ellen, Steve, Eiryn, Vince and Joy; his grandchildren, Riley, Ryan, Reese, Natasha and Stephen.
A private funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Faith Catholic Church with Fr. Clyde Salitrero as celebrant.
