Virginia and I only discovered this sad news. We look back 38 years ago and see in our minds' eyes the young daughters of Dr. Schulman visiting us at our French Quaters apt to enjoy a meal together and use of the pool. We both wish we had the opportunity to become acquainted with the adult versions of those little girls. In a few weeks we will be attending a wedding of one who also loves the creation of period costumes. We will be given occassion to think of Barbara and her family.

So sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. She was my dear friend, former roommate, and traveling companion. We met as graduate students at the University of Minnesota and became good friends when we were assigned to teach World History together. She asked me to become roommates with her and we lived together for a year before she went away to the Netherlands to do research. Barbara and I went to Italy together and I visited her when she was doing research in the Netherlands. When she moved to Florida, we stayed in touch, and I went to visit her on my birthday several years ago.

I am truly saddened to lose such a dear friend, a brilliant woman with such a delightful sense of humor. I will treasure her friendship and the memory of the good times we had together always.

So shocked and saddened to hear this today! I knew Barbara in grad school. And actually, I was just thinking of her recently. I was remembering how we had arranged for her to have my car while I was away in Spain doing research for a year, and all the logistics of the title transfer and my cautions about the car not accelerating very fast, so to be extra careful entering busy highways. Of all things. She was a bright presence in our grad student circles, always laughing and in a good mood. What a huge loss -- way too young!

I am so saddened by Barbara's recent death. I went to graduate school with her in Minnesota and we shared many great times there. Not only was she one of the brightest people there, but she was warm, funny, sometimes goofy, and we laughed a lot together. I'll miss her.

I will so miss Barbara and her kindness and absolutely incredible sense of humor. She was very special to me as we had spoken on the phone numerous times sharing both of our lives struggles, we would email and we would just love to laugh and share together. I am shocked at her passing and I wish nothing but the most comforting our Lord Jesus Christ can bring to your family.
