Ashley Rebecca Dillon's Obituary
Ashley Rebecca Dillon died unexpectedly in her sleep March 6, 2024, at age 43.
Ashley was born in Asheville, NC, a place where she felt most at home and frequently returned over the years in various capacities. She grew up in Gainesville, FL, attended school at Trilogy and PK Yonge, and then pursued certification as a medical assistant.
As an adolescent she loved horseback riding and skiing, did both with elegance and glee. Kayla, her only child, was born in 2001, after which they lived in Jacksonville for a period of time. Ashley was so very proud of Kayla.
Later in adulthood, Ashley fought relentlessly for her sobriety, making recovery her top priority. Most recently she was moving eagerly towards health and happiness, her warm, witty, caring personality shining through. In her professional life, she was working on state certification as a licensed Peer Recovery Specialist.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Michael C Dillon and Ann S Dillon; her daughter, Kayla Marie Whetsell (Logan Brumley); her sister, Lauren Spencer (David Spencer); and her adoring nephew and niece, Sebastian and Hayden Dillon-Merrill.
Private services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter, food pantry, or charity of your choice.
