Allen Wallace Lovvorn's Obituary
Allen Wallace Lovvorn, age 64 of Newberry, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born September 7, 1951 in Cullman, Alabama to Hoyt Wallace and Opalene Cleo Duke Lovvorn.
Allen attended the National Fire Academy and became a Paramedic and EMT. He started as a firefighter in 1972 and rose through the ranks until retiring from Gainesville Fire Recue as Deputy Fire Chief. He then became Assistant Superintendent at Florida State Fire College until retiring in 2009. Allen loved music and singing at churches and in his free time he enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Allen is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gayle Voorhees Lovvorn; six daughters, Jennifer Lovvorn, Kristi (Greg) Medlock, Rebecca (Corey) Ryan, Brittany Lovvorn, Courtney Lovvorn and Hayley Lovvorn; brothers, Rickey(Julia) Lovvorn, James (Donna) Lovvorn and Danny (Kelly) Lovvorn; sisters, Barbara (Clark) Scarborough and Sheila (David) Taylor and four grandchildren, Owen, Bridget, Mac and Brooke.
Allen was preceded in death by his son, Travis Allen Lovvorn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Archer with Rev. J.O. Jackson, Rev. Warren Gilpin and Rev. Elwood Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
