Winston Dale Hogan's Obituary
Winston “Dale” Hogan, 78, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. He was born at Alachua General Hospital, Gainesville, to Jasper and Claudie Tillman Hogan on February 11, 1945.
He attended GHS and graduated in 1963. After graduation, Dale joined the National Guard. He proudly served for 13 years as an E-6 Staff Sergeant and Tank Commander. He was a true patriot and loved his country very much. He started with Western Electric in 1969 then transferred to Southern Bell, retiring after 38 years.
Dale was a member of the Orange Heights Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish and walk on the beach. He loved to garden, work in the yard and watch deer and numerous other critters in his backyard. He also loved his Florida Gators. He enjoyed watching everything from football and baseball to softball and gymnastics. More than anything else though, Dale loved spending time with his family and friends.
Dale’s family has been in North Central Florida for many generations. His family (Zane and Ruth Hogan) donated the Hogan cabin, where their grandmother was raised, to Morning Side Nature Center in 1976.
Dale’s personality was larger than life. He never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and there was never a dull moment around him. Dale was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Our hearts are broken.
He is survived by his loving wife, TommyeLee Johnson of 37 years along with children Tommy Brown (Shawna), Joseph Brown and Stephanie Hogan Ecklund (Skip). Brother, Rollin Hogan (Joan) and sister, Margie Bowers, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Jasper and Claudie Hogan, brother Zane Hogan and sister in-law Ruth Hogan, his brother-in-law, Herman Bowers.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the incredible staff of the E.T York Haven Hospice Care Center. You all will never know how much your tender, loving care of Dale meant to our family. Each and every one of you is a gift from God.
