Wilma D. McClane's Obituary
Wilma D. McClane died peacefully on December 30, 2017 at 102 years old in Lakeland, Florida. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas K. McClane, Jr., and her daughter, Catherine Kuykendall.
She is survived by her sons, Tom, Don, and Scott McClane and their wives, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Born in Beacon, Tennessee on June 11, 1915, she has lived in Florida since 1925, mostly in Gainesville but more recently in Lakeland.
She was a devout life-long Baptist and taught Sunday School and Summer Vacation Bible School for many years. She always actively supported her children’s education and served as president of the PTA several times. For a number of years she volunteered in the auxiliary at Alachua General Hospital.
Other than her devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren, we especially remember her for her commitment to helping others and her wonderful, mischievous sense of humor. She was also a rabid Gator sports fan and Atlanta Braves fan.
Wilma requested that instead of sending flowers you make a donation to your charity of choice.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted by Brent Kuykendall, Wilma’s grandson, on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, 401 SE 21st Avenue in Gainesville, Florida.
