William Henry Peck's Obituary
William Henry Peck, 93, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Mr. Peck was born in Koblenz, Germany in 1922 to William J. Peck and A. Pauline (Dott) Peck. He spent most of his life in Indiana, earning a mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University, before retiring to North Central Florida where he was a resident of Gainesville and recently of Ocala. Mr. Peck designed hospital beds in his career as a mechanical engineer and obtained several patents. Mr. Peck was an Army Air Force veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, especially with his 7 children, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Mr. Peck is survived by his six children, Theresa Legault of Hollywood, FI, David Peck of Gainesville, Timothy Peck of Gainesville, Laura Peck of Los Angeles, CA, Carol Peck of Gainesville and Robert Peck of St. Petersburg, FL; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Jen Gilbert, Marie Garrett, Jane Warren, and Liz Anderson; and brother John "Jack" Peck as well as many other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Alma Ilene Peck, his daughter Mary Bock, granddaughter Grace Peck, brother Don Peck, and sister Pauline Whaley.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 16, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street, with Fr. John Phillips as celebrant. Interment will follow in Countryside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
