William Charles Mauzy Jr.'s Obituary
William Charles Mauzy, Jr., died the morning of September 7, 2015 in Gainesville, FL. He was born March 26, 1967 in Sherman, TX to Frances and William C. Mauzy and raised in Gainesville. He was the grandson of the late Judge John A.H. and Edith Murphree and the late Bill and Sibyl Mauzy. Bill graduated from Gainesville High School in 1985, where he was named the 1985 Sun Player of the Year for his accomplishments in football and baseball. He attended The Citadel and then transferred to The University of Florida, graduating with a degree in accounting. At the time of his death, he was an accountant with the Alachua County Tax Collectors Office, where he had worked for the past 14 years. He was known around the office as “Wild Bill” for his joking personality.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rebecca Albury Mauzy and their son Will Craven, their cats, Percy, Little Bit and Tug and Rebecca’s family, Donald, Betsy, Robert and Sarah Albury; his mother and her husband, Frances and Charlie Sauls; his sister and family, Mary Robin, Jamie, Will and Sarah Cable. Bill was predeceased by his father, William C. Mauzy.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 NE 1st Street, Gainesville, FL 32601, with The Rev. Louanne Loch officiating.
