William Thomas Dickerson III's Obituary
William Thomas Dickerson, III was born in Nassau County, Mineola, New York on July 11, 1927. His first home was in Floral Park, NY. He was a Navy veteran and a graduate of Cornell University majoring in Agriculture. He married Corinne Anne Sickler (Dickerson) in 1953. William purchased a dairy farm in Hawthorne, FL in 1955 and they relocated. He was once recognized for having the most efficient dairy in the state of Florida with record holding cows. In 1965, William and Corinne bought a house in the lake region of Hawthorne to continue raising their four children. They resided there throughout the remainder of his life and he passed at home with his loved ones present on July 29, 2018.
Mr. Dickerson was a member of American Legion Post 230 out of Hawthorne.
Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his father William T. Dickerson, Jr.; Mother, Hannah A. Dickerson; Half sister, Ruth Glennon and her two sons Joe and Jack Glennon and two nieces.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne A. Dickerson and their four children: Son, Daniel Thomas Dickerson; Son, David James Dickerson; Daughter, Darlene Anne Dickerson and her partner Anna E. Howard; and Daughter, Deanna Lou Dickerson (Blitch).
He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Daughter Deanna’s three children: Grandson, William Braxton Blitch and his wife Deanna M. Bridges (Blitch) and their son Finley Braxton Blitch; Grand-daughter Jessica Anne Blitch (Blanchard) and her son Carter Thomas Blanchard; Grandson, John Bradley Blitch. Son Daniel’s two children: Victoria Elizabeth Mullins and Andrew William Dickerson.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., in Hawthorne Cemetery, Hwy 20 East. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Dickerson was an avid traveler in his retirement years. He loved nature and wildlife throughout his lifetime. He was a wildlife advocate and made several donations to the Wilderness Society and the National Park Foundation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to nationalparks.org or wilderness.org in his name.
