William (Billy) Thomas Redd's Obituary
William (Billy) Thomas Redd age 60 passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born in Detroit, MI on May 27, 1962 to the late Ellis Gilbert Redd and Ruth Socall Redd (Ingham).
After graduating from Eau Gallie High School in 1981, William worked for NASA at McDonnell Douglas doing assembly line work in Cape Canaveral. At that time, he had a big interest in aerospace and watched many rocket launches. He eventually joined the US Army where he proudly served his country for 16 years. During his military service he was stationed in Ft. Ord Monterey, CA; Ft. Sill, OK; Ft. Hood, TX; and various other stateside bases and was overseas at Germany and South Korea. William was also a Desert Storm Veteran. His MOS jobs were Nuclear Weapons Specialist and Water Treatment Specialist.
While William was stationed at Ft. Ord, he trained as a pilot in his free time and loved to fly. He also enjoyed scuba diving and fishing while living in Monterey, CA. After being in the service, he settled in Florida and continued these same interests when time and money allowed. When he passed, William was a ServPro Crew Chief and had worked there for over 12 years.
William enjoyed Star Trek, Gaming, Meteorology, doing Bird Calls, singing Karaoke and hanging out at the Ole Barn, playing harmonica and guitar.

He is survived by brother, Allen Thunder Redd; sister, Victoria A. Redd (James R. Langford); Aunts and Uncles: Allen L. Redd (Clara), Butch Roberts (Gerri), Ron Socall (Marlene); and cousins: Terry Redd, Barbara Moran (Bill), Donna Bobby; John Markovich (Gloria); and many other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Downtown Chapel, 404 North Main St., Gainesville, FL with Pastor Eugene Strickland officiating.
