William "Billy" J. Bracewell's Obituary
William J. Bracewell, "Billy", age 54 of Hawthorne, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2018, after a long battle with chronic illness.
Billy earned his Diesel Mechanic certificate from University of Kentucky, obtaining the highest score in the state at that time; an AA degree in Biblical studies from a local seminary and certificates and degrees in Paramedic and Corrections Officer from Santa Fe College.
He worked as a Corrections Officer, Paramedic at Florida State Prison in his younger years, and later an over the road truck driver. He reached over 100,000 miles on the road.
After marrying his wife Joanne, they were active for a time with Christian Motorcyclists Association and rode many miles together. He served as a housing project assistant and missionary in Appalachia with his wife at the Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything.
Billy enjoyed studies of Hebrew and Jewish history. He enjoyed theater and singing praise and worship music with his wife when she felt he was on key. :) Most of all he loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph Calvin and Libby Pridgeon and his father, William Dennis Bracewell.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne E. Bracewell; stepsons, Bryce Evans and Mark Santiago and stepdaughter, Janel DeJesus (Paco), brothers, Darrin Bracewell and Shannon Bracewell and nephew, Gunnar Bracewell. He has 9 grandchildren by his step children. His mother, Barbara (Archie) Lewis, also survives him.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., in First Baptist Church of Hawthorne, 22027 SE 65th Avenue, with Pastor Chris Rose officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
