Wayne Irving Smith's Obituary
Wayne Irving Smith, age 87 of Gainesville, FL, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. He was born June 10, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN to William Harry and Helen Lucile Orr Smith. A veteran of WWII, Mr. Smith served in the United States Army under General George Patton. He was employed by Northwest Airlines for 48 years as an Equipment Serviceman. He enjoyed golf, genealogy and traveling. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by wives, Carol C. Smith and Dorothy S. Smith and sister, Priscilla Madison. He is survived by his son, William (Nancy) Smith of Gainesville, FL; brother, Russell (Vivian) Smith of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Elaine (Winton) Schultz and Adele (Jack) Davis, all of Minneapolis, MN and grandson, Eric Wayne Smith.
A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Gainesville, 14105 N.W. 39th Avenue with Pastor John Fairless officiating. A reception will follow the service.
