Warner W. Weseman's Obituary
Warner W. Weseman, 92, of Gainesville, FL passed away March 22, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Warner was born August 31, 1930, to G. Warner and Alice Watkins Weseman in Palatka, FL. He and his family moved to Gainesville when he was in the second grade, as his mother was impressed with the educational system and indoor plumbing! Warner possessed a fabulous sense of humor and took tremendous pride in his upbringing and family history. Warner enjoyed being described as a little weird (not weirdo) and took part in preparing his obituary notice. He was on the first football team at PK Yonge, they were undefeated and took the state championship. Warner was an avid hunter of deer, turkey, and bear, a sport he enjoyed with all his family and offspring! He is a self-described 5th generation Florida Cracker who never made it out of the woods. His great-great grandfather was a founding member of Paran Baptist Church in Grandin, FL in 1856. His great grandfather, Culpepper Watkins fought for the South in the Civil War.
Warner worked most of his life as a Commercial Real Estate Developer. He used the pseudonym WILL DICKER for articles published and for letters to the editor in the newspaper. He was a man of strong Christian faith and founding member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Gainesville, FL. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very proud of them and their many accomplishments. He gives thanks to each family member for making his life interesting and full.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Billy, and mother of his children, Norma Weseman.
Warner is survived by his loving wife, Edith Weseman, children, Judy Weseman, Gary (Donna) Weseman, Ted (Connie) Weseman, and Linda Weseman; grandchildren, Rebecca, William, Michael, Bryant, Meredith, Rodney Drew, Taylor, and Shelby; great grandchildren, Clara, Evan, Andrew, Brantley, Bryce, Brook, Riley, Charlotte, Malachi, and Haven. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends. All who knew and loved him will miss his presence in their lives.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Paran Baptist Church, 125 Paran Church Rd., Melrose, FL with Rev. Dr. Dan G. Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Paran Baptist Cemetery. Please dress casual for Warner. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in his name to Paran Baptist Church.
