Vivian E Sutton's Obituary
Vivian Eunice (Adkins) Sutton, born March 11, 1941, to Silas and Ona Mae (Green) Adkins in Gainesville, FL departed this Earthly life on Sunday, March 1 at the age of 84. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Vivian was the middle child of three and was raised in Windsor and Micanopy, FL. In 1957, she married Bobby Sutton, and together they made their home in Micanopy where they built a life centered around faith, family, and hard work.
Vivian worked many years at Franklin Crates in Micanopy before continuing her career with Florida Farm Bureau, where she served as a claims underwriter until retiring at the age of 65. Though she valued her professional accomplishments, her most treasured and rewarding role began after retirement- caring for her great grandchildren. She took great pride in loving and caring for each one of them. They were her treasures.
She enjoyed attending church with the Smith family and cherished family vacations to the Smoky Mountains where lasting memories were always made. Apple fritters from the Apple Barn were her absolute favorite. Her cooking was unmatched- especially her macaroni and cheese and homemade biscuits, which quickly became our family staples. She doted on her granddaughters and couldn't wait for her daily phone calls with each of them to find out what new gossip she needed to be caught up on. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed crocheting and reading romantic novels.
Vivian is survived by her three daughters, Jeanette Smith (Michael Smith) of Micanopy, FL, Joy Sutton of Micanopy, FL and Shannan Sutton (Jay Ostrander) of Cross Creek, FL. Six grandchildren Lacie Lycan (John Lycan) of Micanopy, FL, Kayla Thrash (Joseph Thrash) of Melrose, FL, Cody Alford (Dana Alford) of Micanopy, FL, Nakiya Moody (Buck Moody) of Starke, FL, Mariah Gamble (Austin Gamble) of Ocala, FL, and Dakota Johnson of Micanopy, Fl. Ten great grandchildren Jacob Hutton, Joel Howard Lycan, Hannah Lycan, Silas Thrash, Cade Alford, Harper Moody, Niokoa Moody, Colton Gamble, Wyatt Gamble, and Madison Gamble. Brother Gene (Willie) Adkins of Micanopy, FL and adopted sister, Vergie Hecht of Earlton, FL.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Sutton, parents Silas and Ona Mae Adkins, sister, Niokoa Boyd and granddaughter Niokoa Johnson.
To honor her memory services will be held at the Micanopy Baptist Church Saturday March 7 at 2pm. Followed by graveside at the Historic Micanopy Cemetery.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her steady strength, and the deep love she gave. Her stubborn spirit didn’t just shape her life- it shaped all of ours. Well done, good and faithful servant- your love lives on in us. We will love you forever Kiki.
