Virginia Diedeker Williges' Obituary
Virginia Diedeker Williges, 93, resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018, in the Terrace Healthcare Facility, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Williges was born in Sioux City, Iowa on August 9, 1924. She lived most of her adult life serving as an officer and volunteer for many varied organizations in the Kingsville, Texas area. Mrs. Williges was very active in her community; she loved and was proficient in all types of arts and crafts. From painting and drawing to needlepoint and crochet. She moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2008, and her craftwork turned to quilt making, specifically for the Ronald McDonald House, and by the time she retired from volunteering, she had made close to 1000 quilts, and was presented special recognition by the Ronald McDonald House.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years in 1998, Mr. George Williges.
She is survived by one son, Kent Williges.
