Virginia Ann Stewart Fields' Obituary
Virginia Ann Stewart Fields, 88, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Mrs. Fields was born on July 13, 1928 in Norton, Virginia to the late Amanda and Charles Stewart. She was preceded in death by her son Charles Lee Fields, her two sisters, Ruth Ashworth and Crystal Compton, and by two granddaughters, Yvette and Jaime Gustafson.
Virginia worked at many banks in the Gainesville area for forty plus years, as a bank teller, where she loved her customer and knew most of them by name. She will be missed by many; she was witty and had a knack for making people laugh, and she will be especially missed by her dog, Toodles. She will be entertaining the angels and rejoicing with her son, mother, father, sisters and granddaughters in heaven.
She is survived by three daughters that loved their mother to the moon and back, Beverly (Don) Bowman; Wanda Joiner and Iona Fields; grandsons, David (Lisa) Oliver, Jeff Joiner and Jimmy Joiner; granddaughters, Paula Goddard, Christi Dukes and Cammie Weir; great grandsons, Jared, Matt, Ronnie, Trace, Blake, Ryland, Joey, Shane and Mason and great granddaughters, Erika, Peyton, Jamie, Emily, Nikki and Cammie and one great-great granddaughter, Avery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5 to 7 P. M., at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville. Graveside funeral services will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alachua County Humane Society, 4205 NW 6th Street, Gainesville, FL 32609.
