Victoria Gero Ives (November 30, 1960 – May 23, 2016)
Victoria Gero Ives, age 55, of Gainesville, passed away May 23, 2016 after a brief illness at the E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center with her family by her side.
Vicki was born November 30, 1960 in Miami, FL. to Edward Gero and Jan Madden
In the early 1970’s Vicki’s family moved to Bell, FL where she loved the outdoors, animals and growing up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
She graduated from Bell High School in 1978 and studied at both Santa Fe College and the University of Florida earning degrees from both institutions.
She married Ralph Ives in December of 1984 and in 1988 gave birth to Justin and later in 1991 to Christian.
Vicki loved being a stay-at-home mom organizing play dates, leading school activities and participating scouting activities. During this time she was very active, exercising, going on family trips and enjoying time with family and friends
After her sons were grown, she earned her Master’s degree in counseling. She worked at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare helping under privileged mothers with substance abuse problems.
Throughout her life, Vicki surrounded herself with animals.
Vicki is preceded in death by her father, Edward Gero. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; her sons Justin (Dara) and Christian and grandson Hunter; her mother and step-father Jan and Richard Madden; her brother, Chris Gero; her step-brother and step-sisters, Michael and Heather Madden and Shawn Brunett; and her in-laws John and Ann Ives.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 5:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry, with Rev. Jim Wagner, officiating
