Tyrone Moffitt's Obituary
It is with great sadness to announce the death of Tyrone Justin Moffitt of Gainesville, FL on July 17, 2024, due to cancer. Tyrone (“Tye”) was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, and coworker.
Tye was born on June 11, 1971, in Aurora IL. He attended West Aurora High School where he played on the basketball and football teams. Upon graduation in 1989 he moved to Gainesville, FL. He earned his AA degree from Santa Fe College. While attending school he began his career at Publix as a bag clerk. He then transferred over to the produce department and became full time. He got promoted to assistant and for the last 19 years he was the produce manager at various store locations. He was with Publix for 35 years, having worked at seven of the stores in town. It was at Publix where he met his wife, Kim whom he married in 1998. Tye loved all sports, with favorite teams being Chicago and the Florida Gators. He was greatly active in his daughters’ sporting activities, swimming for Madison, and tennis for Lauryn. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kimberly Roosenraad Moffitt, his two daughters Madison and Lauryn, Mother Stephanie Moffitt, brother Kevin, sister Michelle (Jason), Tyler and Brittany, and much other extended family. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Moffitt and grandparents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25, 2024, beginning at 5:00 P. M., at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, with a celebration of Tye’s life beginning at 6:00 P. M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tyrone’s name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org/donate.
