Troyanne Battles' Obituary
Troyanne Battles, 46, of Gainesville FL passed away on December 31, 2015. She was a member of the Glen Springs Road Church of Christ.
Troyanne grew up in the Hawthorne area and was a 1987 graduate of Hawthorne High School. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. She also received two Associate degrees from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL.
She was a talented artist and crafts woman. She was a member of North Florida Tatters. Her tatting work won numerous awards at the 2015 Florida State Fair.
Troyanne had the opportunity to interact with the Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses during a past illness and developed a passion for this charity. She spent a great deal of time trying to help this organization raise funds for their amazing work. In honor of her efforts and love for this charity the family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Troyanne’s memory to the Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses PO Box 358844, Gainesville, FL 32635.
She was preceded in death by her parents John T. Battles and W. Ruth Battles; and great nephew Donovan Thomas Redding.
She is survived by her brother, Donald (Lynda) Battles of Jacksonville, FL; and sisters, Sherry (Bob) Mealman of Lewisburg, TN; Katherine (Michael) LaRochelle of Jacksonville, FL; DeLayne (Tommy) Redding of Melrose, FL; and Marci-Jo (Gerald) Mishoe of Summerville, SC.
A memorial will be held for Troyanne at the Glen Springs Road Church of Christ at 2214 NW 31st Avenue in Gainesville, FL 32605 at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Vaughn Littrup will be presenting the lesson. Burial will be private at a later date.
