Mr Troy L. Whitfield Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Troy L. Whitfield, Jr., 64 of Gainesville, Florida, died Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the E. T. York Haven Hospice Care Center, following a long illness.
Mr. Whitfield was born on September 1, 1961, in Casa Grande, Arizona. As a young man in high school, he put himself through pilot training and received his pilot’s license. He soon after joined the United States Marine Corps, serving in Japan, Korea, the Philippines and in Guam. After his time in the Marine Corps, he then enlisted in the United States Army. Following his enlistments, he began a long career in Radiology, working first as an X-ray technician, moving up to a PET scan tech and then on to a CT scan tech before his health forced his retirement.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Troy L. Whitfield, Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Leota Whitfield, of Gainesville; a sister, Sherry Smith; a niece, Lisa Seabolt and a nephew, William Chad Seabolt, along with numerous extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1:30 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry. Interment will follow in Forest Meadows Memorial Park West.
