Troy Lawrence McMichen "Water Boy" was born on June, 28th, 1941 in Gainesville, FL to Buell L. McMichen and Elizabeth Estes McMichen, He passed away peacefully at his home on May 9th, 2025.
Troy loved his country. He was a Sergeant in the US Army, serving multiple tours in Vietnam. He worked for the City of Gainesville for over 30 years before retiring, He loved hunting and fishing, if you've been to his house you've seen his trophies on the wall.
He was ornery as the day is long, but always had a story or two to tell. He loved music and crime shows, but most of all He loved his wife of 45 years Minnie Lou.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Roy Buell McMichen, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lou McMichen. son: Troy McMichen Jr (Merissa); stepchildren: Sherri Peace, Roy McMichen Jr (Claudia), Stacy Volpe (Sebby), and Randy McMichen Sr. (Mellisa); grandchildren, David McMichen, Luke (Marie) Peace, Sarah (David) Peace, Haley McMichen, Steven McMichen, Brandon (Leshea) McMichen, Maegan McMichen, Bryan (Christina) Volpe, Brandy (Mike) Shover, Becky (Chris) Myers, Brooke (Steve) Volpe, Brandon (Amanda) Pickell; great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ryker, Zoey, Sophia, Willow, Michaella, Logan, Brayden, Scarlet, Evie, Clayton, Avery, Rachel, Brandon, Colt, Bryan, Isabella, Delila, Amelia, Weslee; great great grandchild, Ava.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held for Troy on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11am at Evergreen Cemetery, Gainesville, FL with the Rev. Volpe officiating.
