Dr. Tony Curtis Rich's Obituary
Dr. Tony Curtis Rich passed away on January 24, 2024 in Gainesville, FL at the age of 69 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 2, 1954, in Lumberton, North Carolina to Curtis and Katie (Bullock) Rich.
Upon completing high school, Tony married the love of his life, Diane. After marriage, Tony enlisted in the Army as a medic and was stationed in Germany. Once his service was over in the Army, Tony attended Francis Marion College in South Carolina and gained his medical degree from the University of South Carolina. Tony then Joined the Air Force and was stationed at McDill Air Force base in Tampa. Tony and his family moved to Chiefland, Fl and he started his private practice in pediatrics. After a number of years, he retired to enjoy his love of fishing and playing his guitar. When Tony wasn’t on the water or making music, he and Diane enjoyed traveling together.
Tony is survived by his wife of 52 years Diane (Brown) Rich, children Belinda DeBlock of Apollo Beach (Bill), Beth McLelland of Chiefland (Matt), and four grandchildren, Stephen DeBlock, Morgan DeBlock, Keegan, McLelland, and Gavin McLelland.
There will be no formal public service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Tony’s memory to Haven Hospice at www.beyourhaven.org.
