Thomas Oliver Rust's Obituary
Thomas Oliver Rust, age 75 of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. He was born February 27, 1938 in Batesville, Arkansas, to Henry W. and Paralee Rust
Tommy grew up in Batesville, and after graduating high school, he joined the US Navy. After leaving the Navy, he was a sheriff's deputy in Live Oak, Florida. He then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he became a federal firefighter—the work he loved—working on Mayport Naval Base. He retired as a firefighter after 15 years of service. He moved back to Batesville where he cared for his mother, Paralee. He loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. He was an active member in the local American Legion.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Rust Estok of Gainesville, FL, his son-in-law Douglas, and grandchildren, Samuel and Molly.
Graveside Service will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery, in Batesville.
