I always enjoyed working with Tom when we were both on the Board of the Yale Club of Gainesville. From time to time we would run into one another as the years passed. Each time we would have a lovely chat which always ended with his expressing a wish that the Club would reconvene the future. How I wish he knew that just this month we have news that there is new hope that the Club will be active again. He was a loyal and faithful Bulldog, and a wonderful, kind man.
I always enjoyed listening to his piano musical melodic renditions of songs in the various Shands lobbies. We would sit and talk about sailing, his most recent medical cases, and he always drew out what I was doing with sincere interest. He was always fun to talk to. I will miss his smiling face and wonderful music

My deepest condolences to Dr. Lau's family. I was a vocalist for him for a short time when he was playing piano in the Arts in Medicine program at Shands, and at senior care facilities in Gainesville, as well as a fellow parishioner. I found him to be a very gentle, caring and giving human being, and very sociable - it seemed he never met a stranger, and had no hesitancy in starting conversations with people! I also found the statement in his obituary to be quite true - that he was always eager to learn about all kinds of things. His passing is a great loss to this community. Susan Stannard
