Thomas Clifton "Tom" Hughes II's Obituary
Thomas Clifton “Tom” Hughes II, age 77 of Hawthorne passed away Monday, November 21, 2022. He was born January 6, 1945 in Chester, Pennsylvania to Thomas Clifton Hughes, Sr. and Elizabeth Kathleen Ross Hughes.
Tom retired as Sergeant of Orlando Police Department after 27 years of service. After retirement he went to work for the Sheriff’s Department at the Court House. Tom also worked for the State of Florida in Lake County as building inspector. He was a member of FOP Lodge #25. Tom enjoyed boating, fishing, model railroads and traveling.
Tom is survived by his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Hughes of Hawthorne; son, Ross Hughes (Misty) of Orlando; sister, Carolyn Hall of Mount Dora; three grandchildren, Brian, Haley and Vincent; nephew, Andrew McKinniss of Eustis; nieces, Amie Polcaro of Winter Garden, Andrea Wilkinson of Alabama.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Little Orange Creek Nature Park, 24115 SE Hawthorne Rd. Hawthorne, FL 32640. Open to friends and family and casual dress preferred. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orlando Police Benevolence Association Inc. https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/596132831.
