I first met Mama T (Terry) while I lived in Boston and had come home for a visit. I had known Michelle for many years before, so when it came time for me to make a permanent transition back to Florida, they graciously opened their home as a landing spot following the big move. It was immediately clear that Mama T was a force to be reckoned with and those blue eyes sparkled with mischief - A LOT.
One day I managed to take her wheelchair on a baja walkabout in the yard and the chair got stuck in a sandy spot. I had to pull the chair in reverse to get unstick, and this ended up being the easiest was to navigate the rest of the journey. She said she enjoyed it and we shared quite a bit of laughter at the silliness of it. It's the little things, like sharing a beautiful day with someone that you care about that linger the longest in your heart. I hold this like a special treasure and will reflect on it fondly!
It was a privilege to know Mama Terry and to sit in her company. She was gracious, kind and seemingly never grew tired of hearing about the latest drama with my own Mom and boyfriend. She also liked my cooking and I was her favorite when I brought her flowers. As all of us will, I will miss her greatly, but none of us will ever have been the same after sharing our short time on this earth together with her.
