Theresa Almedia Towns' Obituary
Theresa Almedia (Orem) Towns, July 13, 1964 – August 19, 2024
On Monday, August 19th, Theresa Almedia (Orem) Towns, 60, passed away at her home in High Springs, Florida. Theresa was born to Arthur Richard Orem Sr. and Betty Jean (McClure) Orem in Takoma Park, Maryland, July 13, 1964.
Theresa, the youngest of four children, was her daddy’s little blue-eyed girl. During her childhood she and her family lived in Maryland, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee before arriving in Gainesville, Florida when she was 16.
Always caring for others and her menagerie of animals, Theresa’s most rewarding purpose was as a wife and mother. Her career too, was one of serving others. She served her customers and co-workers at Publix for 39 years. She was a member of the High Springs Seventh Day Adventist Church family.
She met and became friends with Milton, her future husband, at church. Their friendship blossomed and they became high school sweethearts. She married her lifetime love on December 4, 1983. She became a mother to her beloved son Nicholas on Mother’s Day 1999.
Theresa lived her life by loving others with her all. She loved and protected her loved ones fiercely. Theresa genuinely loved people and seldom met a stranger, only a new friend. Her joy and laughter were infectious and her steadfast faith and love encouraging. She was artistic, ever inquisitive, intuitive and empathetic. Always quick to laugh, she enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and of course, her cherished house and farm pets.
Preceding Theresa in death are her parents, Arthur and Betty Orem; and her brother, William (Bill) Orem. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Milton Towns; son Nicholas Towns; sister Melody Wagoner; and brother Arthur (Rick) Orem, Jr.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 A. M. at the High Springs Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 23874 W. U. S. Highway 27, High Springs, with Pastor Steve Adessa officiating. Theresa’s request for the service was that everyone dress in bright and joyful colors to celebrate her cheerful and beautiful disposition for life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the church building fund. Please visit her memorial page at www.williamsthomasfuneralhome.com.
