Thelma Ruth McKinney's Obituary
Thelma Ruth Bradham McKinney died at Palm Gardens on March 31, 2025. She was 88 years old. "Ruth" was born to Charley and Sudie Bradham on November 19, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia.
At age two, her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where her father began working at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. She completed her GED later as an adult. When she was 19, Ruth married John Henry McKinney Sr. in Kingsland, Georgia. She predominantly worked as a housewife, although she did work as a keypunch operator for Florida Farm Bureau, as a medical transcriber for Shands hospital in Gainesville, and later in life as a CNA for several institutions.
She is survived by her four children: John Henry McKinney Jr, William Bryan McKinney, James Darryl McKinney, and Rebecca Ann Rushing.
Funeral services for Thelma will be on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Williams-Thomas Westarea Chapel, 823 NW 143rd St. Newberry, Florida, followed by a private interment at Crosby Lake Cemetery in Starke, Florida.
