Sylvia Penney's Obituary
Sylvia M. Penney of Williston, Fl passed away at home Sunday, September 12, 2021 on the Feast of the most Holy name of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Sylvia was born January 5, 1931 in Miami, Fl to Servando and Juanita Ponce Mendez.
Sylvia attended Gesu Grammar and Highschool where she was very active in drama and music. Sylvia married Jack in 1949 and raised seven children. Born and raised in Miami, Sylvia was very active in her church activities. She was also a teacher with the Red Cross swimming program. She was always singing for family and friends at their weddings and other programs. Sylvia and Jack raised their children and lived in Miami for over 50 years. They moved to Williston after Jack retired and built their home. Sylvia was a very active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and performed in local events sharing her wonderful voice. She was known for her kindness, caring of others and her beautiful voice.
She was a member of Bronson H.C.E., Levy County Association of Home and Community Education, Williston Women?s Club, and Red Hats.
Sylvia is survived by her loving Husband of 72 years, Jack Penney Sr; Sons, Jack, John, and Joseph Penney. Daughters, Julie Jeffus, Deborah Smith, Tina DeShaw and Sylvia Gibson; sons and daughters-in-law, Robbie, Janey, Dana, Benny, Ricou and Mike. Sylvia is also survived by her grandchildren, Tommy & Christi , Kim & Joeb, Dyan and Clayton, David & Tiffany, Krystal & Brandon, Justin & Alexa, Ricou Jr, Colleen & Hayden, Ansley, Huntley, Bella, J.R., Gage, and Reyce; great Grandchildren, Emberlyn, Ashlyn, Brinley, Daiven, Brodie, Rhett, Elly, Gabriel, Victoria, Rebekah, Taylor; great-great grandchildren, Emma, Ayden, Brennex and Henley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Servando Mendez her brother, Servando Mendez, Jr. her grandson Danny, and grandmother (Abuela) Julia Ponce.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 24, 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church US 27 N. Williston, Fl with Father Rodolfo Godinez as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery, Williston, FL
