Sylvia "Sally" Flinchum's Obituary
Sylvia “Sally” Flinchum, age 78 of Gainesville, passed away at her home Monday, September 24, 2018. Sally was born October 7, 1939 in Craig, Missouri to William Buford and Frances Adalyn McGinnis Nicholson. She was a homemaker and also worked in the cafeteria at St. Patrick Interparish School for over 40 years. In her free time, Sally enjoyed working in her yard, reading and sewing, but mostly spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Flinchum and son, Joel Flinchum. She is survived by four children, Mark (Martha) Flinchum, Denise (Jim) Chichester, David (Rachel) Flinchum and Karen (Erik) Meberg; brother, Terry Nicholson; sister, Nigel Nicholson and eight grandchildren, Brandi, Alex, Alana, Alyssa, Kyle, Kayleigh, Katelyn and Makayla.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Avenue, with Fr. Lawrence Peck as celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 401 SE 21st Avenue. The family will receive friends Friday, September 28, 2018, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32601.
