Suzanne Harris Pedone's Obituary
Suzanne Harris Pedone passed away on December 22, 2013 in Gainesville, FL. A mother of three and proud New York native, Sue moved to South Florida in 1968 and migrated to north Florida in 1998 to be closer to her children. Sue was a natural extrovert, capable of making friends in every setting. After a long career as a bookkeeper, mostly in the construction industry, she retired and pursued many personal interests. These included serving as a Florida ombudsman on behalf of skilled nursing patients, volunteering at Shands and North Florida Medical Center and as a volunteer at Friends of the Library. She loved the companionship of her dog(s) and always enjoyed the company of one or more. She was an avid mahjong player relishing the competition, conversations and friendships. Sue was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel and the Sisterhood, and a lifetime member of Hadassah.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents Claire and Leonard Harris; husband, John Pedone and her daughter, Debra Blumberg Feldman.
She is survived by her brother Joel (Evelyn), daughter Jodi Mansfield (Edward), son Steven Blumberg (Kathryn), step-daughter Lucy, grandchildren Frederick, Sharon (David), Charles, Craig, Scott (Yuming), Grant, Lauren, Jake and step-grandchildren William and Richard, three great-grandchildren, Austin, Justin, Rachel, Jason and Devon, as well as niece and nephew Gail (Robert) and Andrew (Shawn).
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 10:00 am at Congregation B’nai Israel at 3830 NW 16th Blvd., with Rabbi David Kaiman officiating. A graveside service will follow in the B’nai Israel Cemetery in Gainesville. Family will sit Shiva and receive guests at the Mansfield home immediately following services Thursday afternoon and Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Gainesville Hadassah.
