Susan Keen's Obituary
On Monday, April 21, 2025, Susan Keen, loving wife and mother passed away at the age of 42.
Susan was born in Blackpool, England on October 31, 1982 and came to the United States with her parents to Port Charlotte, FL when she was 9 years old. She was naturalized as a US citizen in 2011. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from the University of Florida. She met her future husband, Andy, in 2007 and they were married in 2011. They remained in the Gainesville, FL area where they became the parents of 3 children, ages 11, 9 and 6.
Susan was an exceptional and passionate educator. She shaped young minds and inspired a love of learning. She taught elementary children and also tutored numerous children including teaching Chinese children the English language online. She was passionate about everything she did. Susan loved to be outdoors, working in the garden and around the yard. If her husband or kids ever wondered where she was, she was most likely in the back yard. She always needed to be busy doing things for her kids and family. She was meant to be a mother and devoted every waking moment to it. She was the epitome of a mama bear. She loved spending time with her family and they would spend their weekends in blueberry fields, picking and eating, or exploring attractions that Florida has to offer. She loved their big dogs and the pitter-patter of paws was ever present. German Shepherds held a special place in her heart. Raising Monarch butterflies and sharing the experience with the kids was her newest hobby.
Susan is survived by her husband, Andy, and her 3 children Cooper, Connor and Addison. She is also survived by her parents, Delwyn and Sylvia Hinds, and her brothers, David and Kevin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on May 3, 2025, at Grace Church at Fort Clark in Gainesville.
