Susan Sulit Flores Austria's Obituary
“Our family bids a heartfelt goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend, Susan Sulit Flores Austria. Born on September 25, 1956, in Lobo, Batangas, Philippines, to Carlos Flores Sr. and Macaria Sulit Flores, she touched the lives of all who knew her. On Saturday, December 7, 2024, Susan was born into eternal life.
Susan was deeply loved, admired and adored by many. She is survived by her devoted husband, Alfredo Austria Jr.; her children, Charlyn (Michael), Mary Allen (Zachary), Aimee (Jonathon), and Alfred; her cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ajria and Chalid; and her siblings, Carding, Josie, Raquel, Carlos Jr., Esmael and Abet. Susan was preceded in eternal life by her sisters Linda, Nita, and Fely, as well as her parents, Carlos and Macaria.
Susan attended Batangas National High School in 1970, where she met her future husband, Alfredo. The two married in the Philippines in 1975. In 1980, Susan graduated from Felician College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing. As a skilled Charge Nurse specializing in pediatrics, she found joy in working with children. Her nursing career spanned over 35 years, during which she brought love, compassion and healing to countless patients. Susan held tenure at Beth Israel in Passaic, NJ, as well as St. Joseph’s/Peace River Medical, Fawcett Memorial and Charlotte Regional Hospitals in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, FL. Over the years, Susan and her family made their home in Passaic, NJ as well as Port Charlotte and Gainesville, FL.
"Susan was deeply committed to supporting her family in the Philippines, helping several of her siblings and relatives pursue the American dream. She also served as a proud ambassador for her Filipino community, becoming a founding member of the Filipino American Society in Port Charlotte in 1985.
Like a mighty elephant, Susan embodied strength, beauty, intelligence and perseverance. Even in her golden years, her sharp mind was always at work—churning, observing and reflecting. Her heart had an uncanny ability to sense the emotions of those around her, whether they were sad, happy, upset or afraid. In her final years, her eyes would light up with joy whenever hugged or kissed by her family. Susan was fearless, beautiful in every way and truly priceless.
Susan treasured her nearly 50-year marriage to her loyal husband, Alfredo, who remained steadfast by her side. She leaves behind her greatest treasure and legacy: her children and grandchildren, each inheriting unique traits from their beloved mother and grandmother, including strength, intelligence, advocacy and resilience.
Our mother, Susan, was the truest example of love in action. Let all that you do be done in love. 1Cor 16:14 Rest in Paradise, Inay. We Love You Always and Forever.“
