Susan Hardee Arnold's Obituary
Susan Hardee Arnold, 77, of Gainesville, FL, passed on after a life filled with love and kindness on September 23rd, 2024. Susan, daughter of Earl and Grace Hardee was born July 23, 1947, in Jacksonville. She earned a Masters and Doctorate in Education from Memphis University and dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as a teacher and administrator.
Though known for her quick, sarcastic wit, often bringing joy and laughter to those around her, Susan’s true gift was how she became more than a friend—she became part of your life. She didn’t just send birthday cards, she remembered anniversaries and would check in to see how your child’s math test went. Whether you were a close friend or a new neighbor, Susan would likely show up with stuffed shells or lasagna, always ready to support those around her.
As much as she loved quilting and reading, much of her free time was spent with her grandchildren. She could often be found helping with homework or cheering them on from the sidelines of their game. Susan's dedication to her family and community extended into every relationship she formed, leaving an impact that won't soon be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Beth, son Donavan and his wife Katy, sister Mary Grace Curtin, and her beloved grandchildren Huey, Damion, and Carter. Susan’s legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering support will live on in the countless lives she touched.
As her life reflects so well, “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.” — Mother Teresa.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Susan consider a memorial donation to Partnership For Strong Families, 5950 NW 1st Place, Ste. 300 Gainesville, Florida 32607 Attention to: P. Edelman.
A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, Florida, with Dr. Dan Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
