Beloved Stuart George Prekler, fondly known as Stu, died peacefully at the Lake City VA Medical Center on the 11th of May 2025 at 5:21pm. He was blessed into eternity by his family.
Stu was born on April 27th, 1946 in Genova Village, Ohio to Joesph George Prekler and Helen Grace Prekler (Brewer).
At 13, Stu dropped out of school to take care of his widowed mother and two younger sisters. At 18, during the Vietnam War, he entered the US army, where he completed 3 tours. He then continued to service his country retiring after 26 years as a Master Sergeant. During his time in the military, he had been stationed in Germany, The Republic of South Korea, Okinawa Japan, and various stateside bases learning to speak German, Japanese, and Russian.
After retiring, he settled in High Springs, Florida where he provided shelter for more family members than we can mention at the top of Underwood Hill.
Stu enjoyed shooting, playing solitaire, watching NCIS, and eating everything under the sun (except peas). He is preceded by his father, mother, sister Clora, and brother Don. He is survived by his wife Lillie, sisters Connie and Mary, children Brian, Leslie, and Jennifer, children-in-law Josh, Tony, and Opalyn, nieces and nephews, Paula, Angie, Georgie, Amy, Ashley, Autumn, and Billy, and grandchildren Gloria, Madison, Brian, Kayla, TJ, and Avery.
Stu will be cremated and a private ceremony will be held with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be greatly appreciated.
Rest in peace Dad,
Brian, Leslie, and Jennifer
