Unfortunately, I didn't know Dr. Deardourff personally, but he was a very thoughtful friend of someone precious to me. This was my friend Mary North. Mary's husband Stewart passed several years ago, and to make sure Mary was not alone, the Deardourffs picked up Mary on almost every holiday and welcomed her to join their family for a celebration. Each Christmas, for many years, since her husband's passing, they sent her a lovely, "Christmas tree", designed by a florist, with light and colored bows or balls, to brighten her holiday. I have always thought this was a consistent lift to her spirits, and felt this is the very best kind of friend to have in one's life. God continue to bless you Steve Deardourff, for all the thoughtful things you've done in other's life. I wish I had known you better. ; )
