STEPHEN CRAIG COPE's Obituary
STEPHEN CRAIG COPE, 66 years old, 1957-2023, passed peacefully on November 20, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Stephen was born in England where his father was serving in the U.S. Air Force. The family afterwards lived in San Antonio, Texas; Fredericksburg and Arlington, Virginia before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Stephen worked as a Machinist for Specialty Machining, Inc. in south Florida then at their facility in Newberry, Florida until his retirement. When younger, he loved freshwater fishing and raising turtles caught in the canal behind the house. He loved playing his drums and music. He had cats over the years but his loving cat Zoey survived him. His favorite sport was following his favorite football team at a local bar while eating hot chicken wings. Steve later started collecting vintage Star Wars toys and building model cars and airplanes.
Predeceased by his father, Ernest Hubert Cope, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his older sister, Karen D. Cope of Florida; his grandparents, Richard and Lillian Valentine of Fredericksburg, Virginia and half-brother, Douglas Cope of Virginia.
Stephen is survived by his only child, Tory Cope, of Florida, mother, Audrey V. Hooper, of Harmony, Florida, his sister, Barbara C. Svetlick and her husband, Lewis Wilson, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. His niece, Kelly Matthews, of West Virginia, his nephew, Christopher Svetlick, and his wife, Angela, of North Carolina. A step-brother, Grant Hooper, and his wife Judy, of Spartanburg, South Carolina. One half-sister Jean of California and two half-brothers, Michael Cope and Brian Cope of Virginia and their extended families.
The family has requested cremation.
