Stanley Lee White's Obituary
Stanley Lee White, 85, longtime resident of Micanopy, Florida, died Sunday, October 6, 2019 in the V. A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida, following a long illness.
Mr. White was a native of Island Grove, Florida, born on October 18, 1933 to the late Lacy Lee and Edith Mae White. He joined the U. S. Navy as young man and spent time all over the country. Mr. White was a sheriff’s deputy for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, until an on the job accident forced a career change. Soon after, he began a career as a social worker for Alachua County, where he stayed until his retirement. Mr. White was a longtime member of the Flemington Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Shannon Kirk White; two grandchildren, five nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews also survive.
As were Mr. White’s wishes, there will be no formal services and the friends are asked to direct any donations to the Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036.
