Sonja Klara Yawn's Obituary
Mrs. Sonja Klara Yawn, 77, resident of Orange Park, Florida, and former longtime resident of Gainesville, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Orange Park Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Yawn was born in Jägstfeld, Germany on September 11, 1941 to the late Eugene Philipp and Klara Häffner Rothenhöfer. She moved to the United States in 1968, and moved to Gainesville in 1972, when she married the late Theron Alexander Yawn, Jr., longtime circuit judge, who preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Yawn loved traveling, taking several trips back to Germany, along with yearly trips to New York with her daughter. While in Gainesville, she attended Holy Faith Catholic Church, and later St. Luke’s Catholic Church, in Orange Park.
She is survived by her daughter, Karin Eva Yawn-Tiffin(William David Tiffin); grandchildren, Philip Alexander Karwacki, Kellie Paige (Marlen) Hunter and Brittany Dawn Tiffin; a brother, Robert Rothenhöfer; two sisters, Helga (Wolfgang) Schadler, and Karin Reuther.
As were her wishes, no services will be held, and the family asks that any expressions of condolence be made to the American Cancer Society, 2119 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
