Sonal Kumari Agrawal's Obituary
Sonal Kumari Agrawal, affectionately known as 'Sony', was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 16, 1982, daughter of Geeta Agrawal and the late Shio Agrawal, M.D. Sony was preceded in death by her older brother, Rahul Agrawal. Sony died on July 31, 2024 at Haven Hospice following a lengthy illness.
In 1986, Sony's family moved to Gainesville, Florida and that became her permanent home. She attended Hidden Oak Elementary School, Fort Clarke Middle School and graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Eastside High School in 2000. Sony graduated from Santa Fe College with a degree in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care at North Florida Medical Center and the University of Florida Shands, accruing numerous patient accolades for her compassionate care. She volunteered with multiple community agencies throughout her teenage years and adult life.
Sony exhibited a vast knowledge of international cuisine and was an excellent and creative cook. She enjoyed world travel, immersing herself in cultural exchange in every locale she visited. One of her favorite places was St. Augustine Beach where she sun worshipped and frolicked in the waves. It was her happy place.
Sony’s friends would describe her as being their “phone-a-friend” if they were on the game-show ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ because of her extensive knowledge in so many areas, as well as her common sense, not to mention her generosity of spirit in sharing with others.
Sony exhibited a unique sense of humor and exquisitely sharp wit. She laughed frequently and brought mirth and joy to those around her. She never met a stranger and always spoke to anyone she encountered. Sony treated everyone she met with curiosity, dignity and respect, regardless of their position in society.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning 10:00 a.m.
Sony was beloved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She brought joy to many lives and made this world a better place.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
