Sofia Anas Cuison's Obituary
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our dearest and beloved mother, devoted wife, loving, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and Nanay to everyone. Sofia Anas Cuison, 94, left us peacefully at the age of 94 in Gainesville, Florida on December 22, 2024.
Sofia was born in Leganes, Iloilo, Philippines on April 30, 1930, to Marcelo Anas and Emiliana Hermonio Anas.
Sofia was an elementary school teacher for most of her adult life, retiring after thirty years. She loved her family and was very involved. She was also an avid Gator fan and loved Bob Barker on The Price Is Right game show. Sofia enjoyed the music, especially the song Moon River and Somewhere over the Rainbow. She was a very special lady, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and a very loyal friend.
Sofia was preceded by her loving husband of sixty years, Cesar Goza Cuison, her mother and father, three brothers Julio Anas, Ariston Anas, and Luciano Anas.
She leaves behind her five children Carlo Cuison, Chona C. Robles, Cosette C. Flores, Cresida C. Sabio, Cynthia C. Mesias; fourteen grandchildren Chede Robles, Chad Robles, Denney Flores, Rieman Sabio, Nikki Baldevia, Chen-Chen Sabio, CL Cuison, Chenee Spangler, Shine Sabio, Lyzah Ledesma, DJ Flores, Chloe Cuison, Bornie Sabio, and JM Sabio; six great-grandchildren Con Con, Basty, Sage, Toupe, Sofie, and Zoe; as well as one sister Teresita Tirado, brother in-law Freddie Tirado, cousins, a lot of nephews and nieces and adapted cousin that she raised Josephine H. Trias.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 SW 24th Ave., Gainesville, Florida with Father Alberto Esposito. The family will receive friends with a reception held at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home- Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, Florida on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
