Shirley King Taylor Stepp's Obituary
Shirley King Taylor Stepp, age 92 of Hawthorne passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at home. She was born June 10, 1930, in Crescent City, FL to Frank and Elma King.
She was raised in Welaka, FL. She graduated from Crescent City High School in June 1947. She moved from Palatka to Gainesville in December 1954 and moved from Gainesville to Hawthorne in August 1976 where she resided until she passed away.
She retired from the Alachua County Tax Collectors office in August 1992 with 29 years of service. She was a member of the Gainesville Moose Club for over 50 years, a member of the Hawthorne Woman’s Club for over 25 years, a member of Hawthorne Life Enrichment Center, member of Ann’s Angels Red Hats in Gainesville.
She was preceded by her parents Frank and Elma King, her husband, Lacy D. Taylor in 1982, her husband, C.M. Stepp in 1996; brother, Lloyd W. King; stepson, David L. Taylor; stepdaughter, Rita Bastidas; son, Lloyd W. Taylor.
She is survived by stepdaughters, Janine (Ron) Montgomery of Tallahassee, Juanita (Lalo) Hernandez of Deland; 3 grandsons, Slater Schwall, Ronnie Pina and Anthony Hernandez; 2 granddaughters, Christina Sierra and Erica Hernandez and 2 great granddaughters, Giani Pina and Athena Sierra, and her longtime companion and friend Doug Chadwick.
She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 at 1:00 P. M., in the Woodlawn Baptist Church, 818 Co Road 20A, Hawthorne, with Pastor L. D. O’Steen, officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorne Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5 to 7:00 P. M., at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Hawthorne, 301 S at Lake Avenue. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a donation to the charity of your choice, in her name.
