Shirley Jean Keown Holt's Obituary
Shirley Jean Keown Holt, age 74 of Hawthorne, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was born in Woodstock, Georgia on November 11, 1939. She moved to Florida in 1970 and in 1976 she and her husband “E.” Tony opened the business “Holt Professional Roofing”, where she remained the secretary and treasurer until she retired several years back. She babysat her grandkids and great grandkids at her office during the day as their parents worked. She always enjoyed a house full of people and helping others. She loved jewelry, flowers and took great pleasure in collecting knick-knacks including her crystal, roosters and wind chimes. She loved day trips with her girls shopping and pedicures. Shirley loved working in her yard and country music, but her children and grandchildren were her life and everyone knew her as “Mammaw”.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, E. Tony Holt; 7 children: Charles “Eddie” Holt, Jr., James “Art” Holt, Sr., Tony Holt, Sr., Randall Holt, Sr., Mary Ann Holt Harrell; Melvin Holt and Alex Holt; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by grandchild, Brenda Holt and great grandchild, Ian Catlett.
A Life Celebration Service will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, with Dr. L.D. Osteen officiating.
